Anglican Orphans

Hello all,

There has been talk in the comments in recent weeks about organizing “Anglican orphans” – orthodox Anglicans who are in liberal parishes or dioceses. If you want to organize a local group of “orphans” under the Anglican Network in Canada banner, these are the steps that need to be taken.

1) Contact your local ANiC Archdeacon. Their contact information can be found here.

2) Form a loosely associated group meeting in a home, for prayer, bible study, discernment, etc.

3) This could grow into a project which is on the ANIC radar in Burlington headquarters.

4) Which could grow into a plant which has clergy albeit not necessarily all the time and scheduled services

5) Which could grow into an ANIC church even if small.

Your local Archdeacon must be involved in this process, if you want to use the Anglican Network in Canada name.

If you are interested in contacting other Anglican orphans, send an email to the blog contact page with “orphans” in the subject line. I will compile a data base of phone numbers, email addresses etc of interested people. Whenever I get contact information for people who live near each other, I will put you in touch with each other. PLEASE DO NOT PUT PERSONAL CONTACT INFORMATION IN THE COMMENTS.

I hope this is clearly written, I have a beastly headcold!

God bless,

Kate

Kate – God Bless you, may your discomfort be diminished with every prayer said.
    As for this beginning all I can say is a quote from one of my Heroes;
    “Yabadauuuuuuu” (I think)

Kate has done a wonderful job of getting this started. However there seems to be a lag, Jet lag? perhaps! Here is the place that orphans cease to be.
with apologies to Kate I am going to alagorically re-write her instructions. (Kate feel comfortable) to withhold this until you are satisfied it meets approval. would not want Lucifer to interfere.

Ladies and Gentleman welcome to Spirit Air flight 77. While we are waiting for final clearance from Air traffic control (Archdeacons) please feel free to review our safety procedures located HERE. we at Spirit Air urge you to make comments, and suggestions or ask any questions you might have on the Brief Lectric Organizer Game we have provided.. Our Flight today will take us to Preparation B.C. were we will be picking up more passengers. Then on to Small Group Saskatchewan were our developed leaders will be waiting this will be a somewhat lengthy stopover to co-ordinate and we will have to re-flight plan with Air Traffic Control. Once we have received permission we will then take off for Halifax International. This will be a long flight of indetermanent time as the winds are somewhat indecisive. However with the Help of ATC along the way and our growing relationship with each other and the Word we should arrive at Halifax to pick up yet more passengers. With clearance from ATC once again we will be on our way to Burlington (Sometimes called ANiC Field) to change cockpit crew our new (Clergy) pilots will then fly us to our final destination which is an as yet unknown old aerodrome called Churchplant Canada. In preparation for take off your seatbelts need not be fastened as we are equipped with the new FISSS (Flying in the Spirit Safety System) However our attendents will be picking up your B.L.O.G.S for review before Take-off. FyB’s (Further Briefings) will come after take-off.

Hey Kate how come my stream wasn’t held I purposely called the old goat by his name?

    Beg pardon? I’m confused….

Sorry about that – I purposely wrote the name lucifer so that my #3 would be held for review as per my first paragraph.
Although I feel strongly about the growth of our church ACNA and I see potential in that through this blog, I have insufficient confidence that my ideas on how this should come about would be agreed upon. Consequently In moving forward I at least want to have the approval of the operators. I know that any input that may be questionable would be reviewed by those in authority, of which I have great respect.

OOPs Did I goof? Can orphans not identify themselves as they wish here on this blog? Wouldn’t that assist in A, removing the isolation and B, opening dialogue? If I am missing something Kate please contact me privately if you think it is necessary.

    Stuck,
You should follow the instructions in the Anglican Orphans post and not put personal contact information into a comment.

David; with much respect, What are you talking about?

    Stuck,
    I was responding to this:

Can orphans not identify themselves as they wish here on this blog?

To reiterate: please do not post personal contact information on the blog; instead, follow the directions at the top of this post.

David once again My choice of words create confusion. My #8 was said in response to Kate’s seemingly contradictory instruction to my allegory. which primarily was designed to get orphans to start using this Blog. NOT IN USING THEIR REAL NAMES. Her “If you are interested in contacting other Anglican orphans, send an email to the blog contact page with “orphans” in the subject line.” This appears to direct orphans away from dialogue on this page and into a void that does not offer full dialogue and support from the rest of us.
I hope this confusion is what is keeping Orphan’s and others from getting involved, otherwise I fear that the orphan situation is not as bad as I suspected. Nothing excites me more than hearing from someone attending an ACoC Church who is fed up and trying to decide what to do. Far to many have left Anglicanism all together, and more will follow.

I want to put people in touch with each other In Real Life. Conversation on a blog isn’t much use if you have no Christian community to go to on Sunday morning.

  14. 14
    Stuck in Toronto says:

Kate I disagree – The nature of Orphans is that they do not have a sufficent Anglican Community to go to. Discussion and encouragement would greatly assist those in isolation. to the end that perhaps Church plant could be the result. Certainly you must agree that participating on a Blog such as yours is at least as real as sitting in one’s living room watching TV evangelists on your Sunday morning. I agree with your attempts to put people together this would greatly encourage creative thought, and with a sense of oneness, great Spiritual strengthening. You continue however, to discourage Blog use. There may be other reasons I am not aware of, again you are welcome to e-mail me personally if this is the case.

  15. 15
    Kate says:

Um, no. Anyone is free to comment however he or she likes – nobody is preventing or discouraging anything, other than the posting of personal contact information, which is a reasonable precaution.

    Stuck in Toronto says:

    Understood!

    Janice says:

    I agree
it would be very nice to connect in some way with other orphans. I dont think you understand the needs if you are not one. I was hoping for more than a one time email putting me on an invisible list. It is hard to maintain any sense of being an Anglican if you are not connected some way. I really dont want to connect anywhere else because it would not be right to dump them if and when other Anglicans are ready to leave the ACoC. But you need to be connected and its getting too long to wait….

In looking at the list of associated clergy, I’m not sure who would be my local archdeacon. I live in Yellowknife, part of the Diocese of the Arctic. Thanks!

  19. 19
    Kate says:

The nearest Archdeacon to you would be, I think, the Ven. Dan Gifford. His contact information can be found here.
