Note: it doesn’t say “It’s time for the Anglican Church of Canada to get Biblical.” I thought that an excess of innovation was what created the mess in the first place.

From here:

It’s time for the Anglican Church of Canada to get innovative about the ways in which it engages the rest of the world, says Archbishop Fred Hiltz, primate.

Delegates to General Synod 2010 can expect to be “challenged to stop looking inward,” according to Archbishop Hiltz.  “We’re focusing on mission,” he told the Anglican Journal.

Archbishop Hiltz explained that the church needs to “start looking out to the world in very courageous ways…the Gospel calls us to be the church in the world.”

About 500 delegates, international partners, visitors and staff will gather for the triennial meeting of the church’s governing body on June 3 to 11 at St. Mary’s University in Halifax.

The issue of homosexuality and same-sex blessings, a hot-bed of controversy that has dominated synods in the past, has been relegated to the back burner. Instead, delegates to General Synod 2010 will determine a new process for debating the issue. Period. Archbishop Hiltz said that he feels “optimistic that the capacity of our church to live with differences is growing.”

I shall be interested in seeing “the new process for debating the issue. Period”. Let’s hope it’s not a process designed to do little else than subdue dissent.

    Father Lawrence Winslow says:

One can be certain that deception will be the name of the game. Let’s just talk – indaba! Then we’ll sneak in a milestone motion or two before going on our merry way to hell! And the conservatives/Essentials people will wonder – what just happened?

I fully agree with Father Winslow except for his description of orthodox people. As I have said before the words “liberal” and “conservative” do not describe the situation. What we have in the ACoC is the reign of apostasy and the Primate seems to be satisfied to allow this reign to continue. He is reported to state “the Gospel calls us to be the church in the world” but the truth is that currently the world is in the church. A church is not necessarily a Christian or religious organization but can be simply a group of people or an association. What the Primate and the House of Bishops need to understand is that for the church to be a CHURCH it must accept both the uniqueness of Jesus Christ and the authority of Scripture. The master of the apostates will do all in his power to quieten those seeking to serve the MASTER. I do not think I have to explain that statement.
Delegates must understand there is no “middle of the road” on these issues. You either stand for the truth or bow down to apostasy.

That’s right, Fred. Church IN the world, not church OF the world.

exactly Ellie, that one must have slipped out of the other corner of His mouth.
