From Ruth Gledhill:

Gregory Cameron Gregory Cameron, one of the architects of the Covenant, fears that if the election of Mary Glasspool as a bishop in Los Angeles is confirmed, this will cause ‘disruption’ in the Anglican Communion. He believes this could be the trigger that finally brings an end to unity around the table at primates’ meetings. Read more of our interview over at Religious Intelligence. Meanwhile, an evangelical synod member from the Chichester diocese, Lorna Ashworth, whose husband Mark is director of youth and children’s ministry at All Saints Eastbourne, has put a nice little PM’s motion down at General Synod. If passed, and it easily could be in this present conservative synod, it means the Church of England will have declared itself willing to be ‘in communion’ with the Anglican Church in North America.

I must admit, I’m a little disappointed with this resolution, which seems a little weak.

General Synod could, if it so chose, instruct the Archbishops of Canterbury and York to establish communion, rather than just expressing the desire for communion, but I guess this makes it more likely to pass.

Even if it is a little weak it would still be an interesting development. The reality still exists that at some point the ACoC and TEC have to be in a sense ‘unrecognized’ as part of the communion (which much of the global south has done already, by declaring impaired or broken communion) and ACNA be recognized in their places as the valid expression of Anglicanism in NA. This move by the UK could be a step in that direction.

Until the beauty, simplicity, and perfection of unity prayed for by our Lord is truly understood and exercised through loving faith the Camerons, just won’t get it. To paraphrase a much earlier comment “While our Christ continually intercedes men form committees and build contracts.”
JESUS IS OUR COVENENT – TO DEMONSTRATE LESS IS FAITHLESSNESS!
