Diocese of Melbourne puts forward Synod motion supporting ACNA

Thought you might like to know about and pray about a motion that is being put forward in the Diocese of Melbourne in Australia on the ACNA. We’re a mixed Diocese here with a good number of liberals, but an ever-increasing number of evangelicals. More and more, positive and Biblical motions that encourage good ministry and God-honouring theology and actions are being put forward.
Here’s the motion concerning ACNA. Our Synod that meets on Oct 7-10th 2009:
“That this Synod notes with great sadness the divisions that have arisen among the Anglican Churches and Dioceses in North America and:
(a) Expresses its appreciation of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s statement of 27 July 2009 entitled, “Communion, Covenant and our Anglican Future”;
(b) Regards those who have formed themselves into the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA) as authentic Anglican Christians;
(c) Extends the hand of Anglican Christian fellowship to the ACNA during this difficult time, and longs for our fellowship with them to be renewed and formalised within the structure of the Anglican Communion; and
(d) Respectfully asks the Archbishop [of Melbourne] to convey the substance of this motion to the Archbishop of Canterbury and the leaders of the ACNA.”
It will need a great deal of prayer to get through.

Yes indeed it will take a lot of prayer to get through. However, it will also require a proper understanding of the difference between “liberal” and “apostate”. Being a true Anglican mandates one to be a true Christian and that means one who accepts both the authority of Scripture and the uniqueness of Jesus Christ. For too long we have allowed ourselves to use the polite term of “liberal” when the correct terminology in many cases is “apostate”. We do indeed pray for this motion to pass and even more for the ABC to take it into account.
To the sender of this notice and to all our brothers and sisters “down under”.
Thanks be to God our Father and may His peace abound at your upcoming synod. Thank you for letting us know and allowing us to participate with our prayers.
No matter the outcome may His will be done and understood, that His Kingdom may come.
Thank you to those down under who are attempting to help us up north. Our prayers are with you.
