Morality is a self governing paradygm. It's ethos exists in the understanding and study of source material greater than ourselves.
Kate, you pointed out in an earlier blog our paradygm, scripture, tradition, and reason was not originally to be of equal strength (as in the three legged stool) but rather a pyramid with scripture (the base) supporting tradition (the center) with both of these then supporting reason. By placing reason (read ego) on an equal footing with scripture and tradition a pandora's box opens.
This seemingly innocent shift (I now call it Hooker's dance) could very well be the root cause of our decline. Could this be the answer to your #1?

It is just my observation, which may or may not be reflective of everything, but it seems to me that there are many more "priests" in the ACoC who are like the woman priest, not really following the Bible, and far too few like the author of this piece. This seems to go all the way up the Hiltz, with his millenium development goals, when he should be concentrating his efforts and those of the entire ACoC on the Great Commission.
