Proposed Canons are here. We are expecting this afternoon to be a hotbed of dissent and mistrust as these highly volatile Canon things are discussed. Sparks could fly as delegates discuss the relative meanings and inflections implied by the definition of ‘is’. Oh, sorry, wrong conference.
Actually, a rather scary amount of peace, tranquility and a good and joyful spirit is present here. Surely, you say, this cannot be an Anglican assembly? It can indeed! And don’t call me Shirley.
Anyway, enough rambling from me, the session will proceed shortly.
Beginning with prayers.

All Canons adopted – the work of the assemby is completed.

The absolute lack of comments thus far leaves me thinking that either no one is interested in what is taking place down there in Bedford, or else, it seems there is nothing controvercial (enough?), so what is there on which to comment?
One could add in a few ‘Alleluias’, ‘Praise the Lord’ s and such doxologies…..Someone needs to have the glory ! Doesn’t He ?
Ruthy ><>
I think it is the latter, Ruthy. I’ve been trying to follow it on the Anglican TV website, but their web service keeps cutting in and out. I heard Rick Warren say “If we want to be blessed by God we have to do these three things”… Off Air.
Well I am following Peter and many Alleluias are needed for such a moment – I guess after all the angst of the last five years a feeling of unbelief settles on you. Is this really for real on a hot, hot day in June in a land far away? I did a dance when Charlie Masters was made Bishop.
Thanks for being there and we will arise from our stupor and the Lord will be glorified.
I know that the assembly is being live-streamed, but does anyone have any idea if it will be available later? I really wanted to hear Archbishop Mouneer Anis’ letter.
I’m waiting for the text, if available I will post.
Oh, I can get the letter without a problem, I’d actually like to see the presentation.
I think it should be available on Anglican TV, but I could check with Kevin.
It says on the Anglican tv website that they are livestreaming and recording, so I expect that it will be on the website later.
Peter, I find this passing strange. Did the mover of the motion give a reason?
I’m also confused. Were 2.8.2 and 2.8.3 sent back to committee for rework or were they passed? If I read it correctly, there was a motion to send them back for rework and it was the rework motion that was defeated, so the two sections stayed in. I think.
Still confused.
Lovely work Peter, thanks
Basically everything was passed and sent through as-is. Any motion to send back for rework was defeated.
