It seems that “Most Rev. Dr. Katharine Jefferts Schori Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church” is going to be the guest speaker at the clergy retreat in Rupertsland. I’d say that is a pretty good indication of the future direction of the diocese.

Update – here’s another interesting event from the Rupert’s Land website:

Fully Alive! A Christian Meditation and Yoga Retreat
Casey Rock, (MDiv, Certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher & Christian Meditation Practitioner).

I know that there really is such thing as Christian meditation, but Yoga? I don’t know, not something I would be dabbling in….

I am updating again, sorry, I will have to learn not to hit “publish” too soon! It just occured to me what is so wrong with the “Christianity and” mindset – whether it is the priest who wanted to be a Muslim and not give up her orders, or the American bishop elect Thew Forrester who has received Buddist lay ordination, or the Christian meditation and Yoga retreat I wrote about above. It says “Jesus, you aren’t enough for me”. Do any of us really want to look our Lord and Maker, the lover of our souls in the eyes at the end of time and say “Father, Son, Holy Spirit, Abba, You weren’t enough for me?

Astonishing!! We must pray for the faithful orthodox clergy in this diocese. May God have mercy!

$360.00!! I have never understood why clergy have to pay for their own retreats, but in this case I think it will serve a good purpose for keeping numbers down.

It is suggested they take this from their Continuing Education Fund! Some education!

#2 LOL Unfortunately, their parishes are probably paying for it. Lord have Mercy indeed.

I just updated the post a bit.

It’s my understanding that Yoga, like Tai Chi, is used by many people as a purely physical exercise regimen to improve muscle tone and breathing.

Which is not to say that I don’t also get a distinct whiff of New-Age multi-culti moral relativism from this workshop, especially given Schori’s presence. But it doesn’t mean they’ll all be worshipping Hindu gods. Not yet, anyway. . .

You are probably right – I still wouldn’t do it, and I don’t think a church should be sponsoring it – especially as a meditation technique.

I have to agree with Kate on this one. I will say, doing Hatha Yoga and Tai Chi could hardly be worse than the spiritual darkness that energizes the heresies running wild in TEC, and which are regularly trumpeted by her presiding bishop.

By the way, I believe the clergy of the Diocese of Brandon have an open invite to the conference.

Tai Chi & Yoga. I agree with Kate. It doesn’t matter what your brain is doing while doing the exercises – it’s the movement of them that is the prayer to the eastern god.

Meanwhile for $50 a conservative bunch of young people are doing this in Niagara of all places. http://www.cranmer.ca No Yoga though.

I announced in Church this past Sunday the Cranmer Conference. It is for people aged 19 to 29, and has some impressive speakers. It was well received, with several people approaching me after the service to further enquire about it, but they were all over 29 years of age.
Perhaps someone could contact the organizers of the Cranmer Conference and co-ordinate a similar conference for the 30+ people.

I believe the over 30s are allowed to attend as long as they find their own lodging. Only the under 30s are allowed to bunk out on the floor in sleeping bags. Sounds like age discrimination to me – LOL!

    Kate says:

Sounds like “natural selection” to me – what over 30 would want to bunk out on the floor in a sleeping bag?? :-)

    Cathy says:

And what under 30 would want their Mom bunked next to them?

This is a clear demonstration of how fast cancer can spread when it is untreated. This so-called bishop and her followers are nothing less than apostates who are determined to “spit in God’s face” and undermine the faith of those who are not yet Biblically literate. It astounds me how they can possible celebrate at the Lord’s Table when they desecrate the sacrifice of Christ.
