Can attest that this is still the case in some northern churches. Apparently it follows the old Scottish Presbyterian practise of the Hudson Bay managers - women and children sit on one side, men on the other. The sides seem to vary from church to church; we were told that the women would sit on whichever side the Hudson Bay manager's wife sat and the men followed the manager's lead!

Henry (#4), I know nothing about the historical seating practices of The Episcopal Church, but my wife occasionally visited a church, into the 1980s, where the women sat on one side and the men on the other. She isn't certain, but thinks the practice may continue today.

"in 1928 ... Women no longer had to sit in a certain area at the back of the nave."
That seems kind of improbable that such seating practices continued into the 20th century. I'm sure that they did not, as the "family pew" was a dominant concept for a long time.

See, I tend to drop off once I hit the first "say what?" in a post ... how can I trust the rest of it?

Also, the Canadian legal picture is very different from the US one.

It could come well before 2010. That court case in Vancouver in May could turn out to be a turning point.

I am reminded of Star Wars when Princess Leah tells Darth Vader "the more you tighten your grip, the more star systems will slip through you fingers." Similar thing will happen here. The more the revisionists force their agenda down everyone's throats, the more people will resent them, and in time leave. The revisionists think that they will convince everyone to change. That's why they get so angry when people leave. The revisionists just simply cannot understand why people are not eating their garbage. Hopefully, as people leave the revisionists they will remain with God.

I read this over at Stand Firm and thought that it had an "Alice in Wonderland" feel to it. More clergy deposed in 2 and 1/2 years than in the 400 history of the Episcopal Church. "Off with their heads" is the cry. After 2010 this scenario will be coming to a Church near you, not just the Network churches.
