I saw this notice at the latest news page of the Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, and I’m wondering if anyone has any information about it.
Essentials Nova Scotia
invites all interested to their meeting
at Trinity Church, 321 Main Ave, Halifax
Saturday, February 14th
10 AM to Noon, with light lunch to followGuest speaker is Bishop Sue Moxley on
“Seeking God’s Truth Together”This topic will cover the Lambeth Conference, the Fall 2008 House of Bishops’ meeting and the upcoming Anglican Consultative Council Meetings in May 2009. Opportunity for questions and discussion will be given.
This meeting is not listed at the events pages at Anglican Essentials Canada and none of my fellow AEC bloggers knows anything about it, so it does not appear to be related to Anglican Essentials Canada.
If anyone knows anything about this meeting, please leave a comment or send us an e-mail. Thanks.
The notice is posted online about one-third of the way down this page.

This event was hosted by the Nova Scotia Essentials group. When Bsp Don and Charlie Masters came to Halifax to do the ‘cross Canada’ presentation Bishop Sue Moxley requested time to present as well. Since the program was pretty well established Bsp Sue was offered an opportunity to speak at a following Essentials NS meeting which took place on Sat. 14 Feb. The meeting was one of the best attended (2nd place after Don and Charlie’s) Her presentation has been recorded (CD’d???) and can be uploaded for others if there is a location to which that can be done. Otherwise copies can be made available.
Do you think that, if the situations had been reversed, the good bishop would have invited Bishop Don to speak at one of her diocesean events?
I doubt it, but I am glad Essentials Nova Scotia did. We ought to be taking the high road.
Stephen, Thanks for filling us in.
Just one of the problems Essentials seem to have re its local groups. I understand Essentials Niagara, the oldest and biggest Essentials group there is, may have had a meeting on Feb 12th and no word from anyone. Am I right in this?
Well, AEC has very few paid staff, some communication hicoughs are bound to happen in a large organization staffed mostly by volunteers.
Couldn’t agree more with # 3 from Kate . We should be taking the high road and I believe that so far we are.
So was there a Niagara meeting? Was it mentioned on the AEC website? And, do we have any reports/transcriptions from it?
Essentials Niagara has its own website (www.essentialsniagara.ca) but I don’t see mention of a recent meeting.
By the way, other Essentials chapters are linked from http://www.anglicanessentials.ca/reg_chapters.htm. However, few have websites, and few chapters seem to be active.
