The audio is here. It is about 2 hours long and the first speaker is Bishop Michael Bird, Bishop of Niagara.

Of particular interest might be the following:

0:02:50.  Bishop Bird says that he will be going to London, UK to explain how Niagara arrived at the place it has regarding SSBs. It has been through discernment and integrity, apparently.

0:49:00. Apb Hiltz starts talking about SSBs. Liberals are saying “how long do we have to wait” and conservatives are saying “we need more time”.

I find this rather patronising since it implies that eventually, given enough time, I will see the light and turn into a liberal.

Those who have left have created a “great amount of pain”.

In fact, it would have been more painful for ANiC parishes to stay; those creating the pain now are the dioceses like Niagara who are taking parishes to court.

1:01:00. The “interference” of outside primates is what has created the havoc. Not one bishop in the Canadian church approves of these “interventions”.

Well, I imagine Don Harvey and Malcolm Harding do.

1:05:50. There is the possibility of a large influx of cash into an unnamed diocese. This is a cause for great excitement.

It’s good to know where the priorities are.

1:16:00. Question time.

1:30:40. An interesting question. Parishes have left the ACoC because of “infiltration” and the “calling of special meetings”!

1:47:55. Another interesting question.

In the whole talk there was a lot of emphasis on conversations – the word cropped up every third sentence – and loyalty to the church; the church referred to here is not the Church Universal, but the organisational structure known as the Anglican Church of Canada. Also, in spite of the compulsive interest in conversation, there has yet to be one with Bishop Don Harvey in spite of repeated requests.

With all due respect to my biblically faithful brothers and sisters still resident in the ACoC, and as one who has already shaken the dust from my feet and departed the ACoC for another Province, may I suggest that perhaps the orthodox Anglican community in Canada should be focusing more on the future of the ACNA and less on fretting about what the ACoC is currently saying or doing. We know where the ACoC is heading and that it does not intend to change direction. All the angst and upset that I experienced in my latter days in the ACoC immediately disappeared the moment I decided to choose a different path. Now I have little interest in spending two minutes let alone two hours listening to anything that Mr. Hiltz and Mr. Bird might have to say regarding their heretical actions and the consequences thereof.

Although I can certainly understand where Winter Traveler is coming from, I would like to say, for those of us “faithful brothers and sisters still resident in the ACoC”, please keep the information coming. This is still the “Anglican Essentials Canada” blog according to the masthead above and I for one really appreciate the information it gives me concerning both the ACoC and the ACNA, as well as the Anglican Communion worldwide.
For those in the ACNA, by all means please focus on the future and be assured of our prayers and encouragement.

I agree with some of WT remarks. I was a member of ACoC patiently waiting for my trip to ACPO blithely unaware of Essentials and the direction my church was going. When +Malcolm was inhibited with great fanfare I discovered Essentials and the truth about the ACoC. Since then I have talked to a great number of Anglicans who are unaware of the crisis brewing in their church. I think there are a number of us who believe it is our duty to point out the false teaching. My last visit to the Brandon Synod was difficult as I wanted to interrupt +Jim address to correct him.

Thank you for your prayers and encouragement. I did not intend to imply that this blog should not continue to provide relevant information pertaining to all aspects of our Anglican “troubles”, including information pertaining to the ACoC. I was only trying to suggest that we orthodox put our trust in God and keep our eye fixed on the future rather than continually getting perturbed over what the ACoC may be saying or doing at any particular time.

You listened to Bird+ and Hiltz++ speak for two hours? That was truly a sacrificial and penetential act.

Hiltz & Bird demostrate a positively adolescent inability to connect actions with consequences. And like sulky teenagers they blame everybody but themselves.

I am interested in this comment that the faithful conservatives in the ACoC “need more time”.
Perhaps I am paranoid but I think that has a sinister undertone. The message is “We are going this way come hell or high water. After enough “time” has elapsed, we are going to blame our decline on the few faithful folk who refuse to come along.” Then the active or more active persecution will begin, where is has not already.

I think that is the strategy that has been used up until now and my impression is it will continue to be used.

I am wondering about this. Several points:
    1. Why be excited about a large influx of cash? Is ACC in a bad way financially that it needs a large influx? Why be more excited about money when he could be excited about following the Teachings of Jesus?
    2. The cash is going into an unnamed diocese. Which one and why only that one? Why not the ACC at a national level, which could them distribute the cash to where it could do the greatest good.
    3. From whom is this large influx of cash coming from? Does this source attach any strings to the money? Will there be some sort of obligation or expected favour in return for the money?
Or, is Hiltz expecting to win ownership of most, perhaps all, former ACC now ANiC church buildings and lands, which he will order to be sold before any appeal can be made?

“Or, is Hiltz expecting to win ownership of most, perhaps all, former ACC now ANiC church buildings and lands, which he will order to be sold before any appeal can be made?”

Or they have desperately sunk their every last dollar into 6/49 tickets, and are pinning every hope on the fact that, because they are so clearly right and the ‘other side’ so clearly ‘wrong’, God will give them a winning number. That’s my take on it. :>)

    Jac says:

I too am interested in this large influx of money- I wonder if that is what is driving some of this agenda, especially in cash-strapped dioceses. Once they go ahead with SSB’s we will likely see where the large influx of cash is coming from. “You can’t serve God and Mammon”- we’ll see soon who is serving Mammon, I think.

    Jac and David,

The “faithful conservatives” who have remained in the ACoC have just had fair warning. They will be treated like little children who are slow to grasp the obvious. Make no mistake, there is no respect for your position, just a growing sense of frustration that you are taking so long to accept the “new vision” of the ACoC.
    Peace,
    Jim

I completely understand what you are saying to us faithful conservatives still in ACC. My situation may be a bit unusual in that I have contacted and met with representatives of ANiC, but there does not appear to be enough people like me in Grey County. Where are the prospects for a congregation in Grey County joining the new ACNA? Where are there enough other faithful conservatives in Grey County to plant a new Church? Are there any other people who could participate in a Church planting in this area (Wiarton to the North, Meaford to the East, Markdale and Durham to the South, Southampton and Sauble Beach to the West)?

Faithful conservative in Grey County, please contact me, so that we can come together.

    AMPisAnglican,

It’a a terrible situation for our conservative bretheren in the ACoC, particularly when there are no ACNA alternatives near by.
My prayers go out to you all daily. Keep the faith and know you are part of a wider community joined in prayer, bound by faith and hope.
    Peace,
    Jim

The soon to be Diocese(s) of the soon to be Province of North America has and I confidently believe is aware of the orphans (both known and unknown) in our midst. The apt term “orphans” coined out of ANiC wisdom, as far as I know, is testimony to that awareness. Not withstanding the comfort found in Br. Jim’s prayers and words, I am sure “orphan ministry” is coming….It has to!

There is an ANiC orphans ministry, organized by Rev. Desiree Steadman. Her contact info should be on the main ANiC website.
