A letter to the Ottawa Citizen
Re: Anglican Bishop seeks OK to bless same-sex marriages, Oct. 24.
This article states that “many Anglicans believe homosexuality goes against biblical teaching…” Rather, it should say that most Christians believe the practice of homosexuality goes against biblical teaching.
The Anglican Church in Canada and the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa are in peril as they continue to ignore the moratorium called for by the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Worldwide Anglican Communion.
I applaud those who have the courage to stand up and say “enough is enough!” Bishop John Chapman stated that “it was heartbreaking to see them go (i.e. St. Alban’s and St. George’s parishes in Ottawa). To break the body of Christ is one of the most grievous offences to the church.” I agree, wholeheartedly, but the question is: who has broken this Body?
I submit that it is not those who hold to biblical and traditional Anglican teaching in faithfulness to the gospel that have done this, but those who think that tolerance in all things is the way ahead.
The latter is the stated position of the overwhelming majority of the Anglican Communion worldwide.
Further, the issue of same-sex blessings is just the tip of the iceberg. Leaders in North American Anglicanism have been openly questioning the unique deity of Christ and his bodily resurrection for years, to name two of the much more serious issues.
It is time for Anglican Christians to take a stand!
Anne Crawley,
Ottawa

Since 1968 I have been actively opposing these unlearned world friendly persons within the ACoC. It almost cost me passage through ACPO. As a priest in that organization it cost me dearly in terms of respect and position. In 1981 I was totally ridiculed by many of the Executive Committee in Algoma and elsewhere when I predicted that it would not be long before Africa would be sending missionaries to North America to call those false church bodies back to Jesus.
Now we see the ACoC hierarchy blatantly, and under false knowledge and logic (which they call “science”), walking into total heresy and dragging the blind away from the Gospel of Jesus Christ while still illicitly and immorally using His Divine Name instead of that of the Father of Lies who they follow.
We need to pray for those “blind guides” who are gathered at the ACoC HoB this week – and for those who stand for Christ but do ot have the courage to stand against the majority – in the name of collegiality of course. And we need to actively reach out in the True Love of Jesus to those who are being mislead by these miscreants and are still trying to justify their actions.
May Almighty God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – be with us and grant us His strength and courage to actively stand for Christ throughout this onslaught against Him and His Divinely Inspired Holy Word.
I am constantly amazed by the number of so-called orthodox clergy in the Diocese of Ottawa who refuse to step out in faith for biblically orthodox Christianity. When challenged, the justifications given for their lack of action are usually either that the presenting issues are only of a secondary nature or, the issues are recognized as being first-order issues but clergy do not feel it proper to impose their personal theology on their congregations. Of course both of those arguments are really a cop out. The fact of the matter is that the majority of clergy in the Diocese are personally too darn comfortable with the status quo. They are willing to put their personal comfort ahead of the spiritual well being of those they have sworn to serve. Anne Crawley is spot-on the mark. It is time for all biblically faithful Anglican Christians in Ottawa to take a stand and to do so, they will need othodox Anglican clergy to show them the way.
Let’s pray they do, eh?
FYI, for those who may not be aware, Anne Crawley is the wife of Fr. David Crawley, Rector of the community of St. George’s Ottawa, which recently voted to join ANIC. Fr. David is one of five clergy from St. G’s who took a stand and led the way.
I totaly agree with Anne Crawley
It is time for the Conservative Priests and Bishops to take a Stand !!!!!!!
