When I think about Gafcon, and what it’s seeking to accomplish, I can’t help thinking of Foundation and Empire. For those who don’t know the storyline, it revolves around a movement that has figured out that the Empire is coming to an end, and the only way to prevent the ensuing chaos after the inevitable collapse is the formation of the Foundation, initially under the aegis of the Empire, but designed to replace it as the Empire collapses under the weight of its own corruption.
