Iraqi archbishop killed

I think it’s good to get a sense of perspective amidst our Anglican woes here in Canada:

The body of Paulos Faraj Rahho, the Chaldean Catholic Archbishop of Mosul, was found in a shallow grave in the city after a tip-off from his captors.

Read about it here.

For us the battleground right now might be over property, licenses, services, ungodly laws or litigious dioceses. For others, it’s a rather stark matter of life and death.

Please don’t misunderstand me, I’m not trivialising the places we are called to contend for the sake of the gospel; rather just pointing out that for some the stakes are much, much higher.

Pray for the Chaldean Christians.

    Cathy says:

Voice of the Martyrs is a not for profic organisation which tracks Christian persecution throughout the world. According to them, more people have suffered for the sake of the gospel in the past 100 years than in the previous 2000 years of Christianity. Asia and the 10-40 window being the hardest areas.

Yes, this does rather put things in perspective, doesn’t it.

Speaking of VoM, I saw Richard Wurmbrand speak a couple of times a number of years ago: truly, a man full of grace and authority.
