Hot on the heels of the Bishop of Toronto’s comments is this:
Archbishop Fred Hiltz, Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada, says that although he is saddened by the unnecessary decision made by a small number of parishes to leave the Anglican Church of Canada, the Canadian Church as a whole remains vibrant and united in its witness to the Gospel message.
Despite reports that emphasize division, the Primate says, the reality is that thousands of Anglicans continue to worship together ever week, even though they disagree over issues such as sexuality.
In a message to the church specially taped for the Web, Archbishop Hiltz speaks about the state of the Canadian church and asks Canadian Anglicans to pray that we may remain one.

Once again we hear that All Is Well…… Honestly, if all is so very well, why make such a fuss over it?
The truth is, all is not well, the ACC is divided – divided by those who would remake the Church in the image of the prevalent culture. A Church that is often serving thin gruel in place of the meat of the Gospel of Christ. A Church astray its moorings, adrift in a sea of relativity. No, friends, All is Not Well, and no Primatial pronouncement will make it so. There is no joy in this state of affairs, but know this – the gates of hell will not prevail, and the spirit leading the ACC astray will not have the last word.
(As an aside, just so we are all clear, this is my op-ed and not an Official Pronouncement from Anglican Essentials, OK? This is a blog after all – but if there was any doubt I thought I’d inject some crystal clarity! Read the disclaimer at the top as well if you like. Thank you for your attention.

Peter – Good opinion. I agree.
Bury heads in sand…..it will go away……bad dream…..
Sorry Primate Hiltz….it will not go away
Interesting how both of the candles are placed on the left (Gospel) side of the altar.
I really can’t understand The Primate
He is in total denial !!!!!!!!
I think the ACoC has suddenly woken up to the fact that they are losing (actually have lost) the media war. I’m sure this will turn things around for them: the message was so exciting and dynamic and – untrue.
This lugubrious performance was aired on CBC TV this morning.
The Primate is a “liberal” in the spurious sense, and NOT in the true sense. He is not OPEN to hear a word that falls from the lips of a so-called dissenter. His house is made of glass. I believe that he thinks dissenters are WRONG, and that the average Anglican is DUMB, and should just listen and smile reverently, as pearls of wisdom fall from above.
Not so, dear Primate! Perhaps you have been born into the wrong era. You might have fared better leading the flock of Christ in the days PRIOR to the Gutenberg Press.
