There was a request (hello Joseph) for Bishop Malcolm Harding’s sermon given during the ordination of two new deacons in Abbotsford on 2nd December. Your request is, of course, my command. So, here it is, courtesy of ACiC.

Thanks for posting, now we know without a doubt that the ANiC is really a trumped up version of the ACC, nothing different only more fanatical on one issue…
Notice that the ordination rite being used is from the BAS, not the BCP which the ANiC has said they reaffirm both its Ordinal (the rite of ordination) and the Preface.
Interesting to see that the Bible is now just a “sign of authority” from the BAS and not as the BCP says “authority to read…and to preach”….this is really on par with the ACC…
So nothing new, just a repackaging of the same mess that is prevalent within the ACC….
    Thanks again!

Michael, the Prayerbook isn’t God’s word written – Just because ANiC affirms the Prayerbook as a foundational document doesn’t mean t hat the BAS can’t be used in an appropriate manner. “A sign of authority” and “authority to read and to preach” mean essentially the same thing. I think you are giving the Prayerbook more importance than it is due.

Why then use the BCP as the standard to which the ANiC affirms? If the ANiC was truthful in all matters, it would say that we uphold both the BCP and the latest invention of our beloved ACC and Anglican Communion (which they cannot do because the two books are definitely not, by any stretch of the imagination, complimentary!)
It is interesting that you mention that the ANiC affirms the BCP as a “foundational document”….I cannot find that anywhere….what they have gone on record to say is (quoted)
“We affirm the supremacy of the complete Canon of Holy Scripture, and we affirm the Book of
Common Prayer (BCP) as our standard of doctrine and worship, including the Ordinal (with its
preface), the 39 Articles of Religion, and the Solemn Declaration of 1893. We affirm the three
ancient Western Creeds, (Apostles’, Nicene and Athanasian) as well as the Chalcedonian
    formula.”
The ANiC have gone on record with this and claims that the BCP is the standard of both doctrine and worship….not as you suggest the “foundational document” IT IS THE STANDARD.
let’s call a spade a spade here: either this ANiC is what it is saying it is and that is an Orthodox Anglican Church movement, or just another silly rehash of the same old stuff which the heretical ACC have already…and we clearly can see where that is all leading…
For the innocent people out there who don’t really know what is orthodox anymore, read your BCP…if it is not found there, then it is not orthodox and any church who follows anything else is just a schismatic presence of what is happening in society.

    Thanks for posting this Peter.
I thought the sermon was quite good!
Praise the Lord for leaders like Bishop Harding.

Michael, quite simply, you are putting second things first. Just because the BCP is the standard of doctrine and worship, does not mean that other liturgies are forbidden.

Let’s put it this way for those of you who refuse to see false advertising:
There are 2 brand named corn flakes. Upon closer inspection you notice that both have the same ingredients but yet one of those will claim to have fewer calories. Ask any dietitian, tis not the calories but the grams of fat that is included…..
    ANiC false advertising:
    IT SURE IS!

My wife and I just had coffee with Malcolm (Dec 13) and asked him about a printed version of his sermon. His sermons are outlines and he improvises so there is no printed version. Sometime I may (or someone else can) run the video through a voice recognition program and convert it to text.

Peter thank you for posting this, I received a wonderful blessing from it.
Regardless of what small ‘m’ micheal says (and he is fishing for arguments), the video was needed and has been well received. Bless Bishop Harding for his words and his use of the Word.

I’ve known +Malcolm personally for many years and spending any time with him leaves you reinvigorated. Malcolm a retired person?, don’t believe it! God willing I’m ever ordained I would wish to receive his hands on me. I’d be always watching my back in the ACC. I can’t recall if he said he was going to the Common Cause meeting on Dec 18, but to quote the A Team (Anglican Team) “I love it when a plan comes together!”

btw ANiC is close sounding to Anik, Inuktitut for brother.

As I read over all the replies both on this issue and the others found on this website, I glimpse that not only does the ANiC NOT stand for traditional Orthodox Anglicanism, but rather is a reclusive, reductive, and disseminating group of disenfranchised people who are formed on one opinion; a fierce hatred and bigotry towards gay people. Does this sound negative? It sure does and has nothing to do with Biblical principles and all to do with an attitude which stems from nothing more than hatred…
If this were an orthodox traditional Anglican group of people interested in getting back to where the Anglican Church is supposed to be, then stand up for your articles of faith, namely the BCP Ordinal. Preface, and the Declaration and abide firmly by it. To do anything less is to show the world that the ANiC “talks the walk” but refuses to “walk the talk”
Female “priestesses”, no, divorce/remarriage, no, same-sex “marriage” no….it goes hand in hand….oh and the big one, an Apostolic Succession that will defend and ‘drive away all erroneous and strange doctrine contrary to God’s Word” (BCP Ordinal) and uphold the fore-mentioned items specifically to the consecration of a Bishop!
