Andrew Goddard 19/6/07

This is the vodcast of Revd Dr Andrew Goddards talk on the morning of 19th June. Takes about 30 minutes and is certainly worth the time….

Winnipeg background

Well, like I said nothing much happens officially today at General Synod other than delegate orientation and the the opening service this evening at the Cathedral (which unfortunately I won’t be attending). The first sessions start tomorrow at 9am central time and I will be reporting from the floor. In the meantime, as part of [...]

Another GS blog FYI

One of the nice things about these meetings that you start to put faces to what, before now, has been pixel-only. With that in mind, you might want to check out Rev Joseph Walkers personal blog here. He’s a delegate to synod and unfortunately has a worse sense of humour than mine, which is no [...]

This is where the Encouragement 2007 (the silent movie edition…..go read here if you’re confused) was held. Many of the usual suspects could be found there…. Another shot of the plenary hall…. Thought this might just set the scene….

Not dead yet…

OK, for those wondering where we might have got to – don’t worry, your intrepid team is still here . We got to Winnipeg yesterday (Peter) and today (Gene). The day has been really about admin, drowning in reams and reams of paper and planning. Anyway, it’s all pretty much in place now and I [...]

The song of victory

Psalm 22 v30-31 NIV 30 Posterity will serve him; future generations will be told about the Lord. 31 They will proclaim his righteousness to a people yet unborn— for he has done it. Amen! Though this may be just one more step down the road of the long defeat, yet it is but a deep [...]

Some Thoughts Arising from Reading the Convening Circular

This is not LIVEblog yet. It’s still pre-LIVE. Here are some personal reflections arising out of my preparation. I’ve been slogging through the General Synod Convening circular…introduction, resolutions, reports and memorials. I don’t know how many pages there are. They say delegates should bring a 4-inch binder in which to put it all—at least. What [...]

Some information….

General Synod itself starts Tuesday 19th June in the evening with an opening service. As far as I can see nothing substantial will happen until Wednesday other than procedural committee stuff. Prior to General Synod, on the Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning Essentials will be running Encouragement 2007 with Andrew Goddard speaking. I hope to [...]

Oh, great. I guess this one was timed well. I can’t but help think it would be good if our current Bishops could be as forthright, one way or another…..

I was perusing the Anglican Church of Canada General Synod website, when I came across an Article titled ‘A General Synod without walls’. It starts off so: “This fellow eats with sinners and tax collectors.” Luke 15 As our General Synod approaches, the issues before our church come into sharper and shaper focus, and the [...]

What we have coming up

Suddenly, it seems that there is only about a week left before General Synod starts and all this comms preparation is put to the test. Please do pray for us in the run-up and during General Synod! Center-stage will be the liveblogging of, hopefully, everything of interest at General Synod. While it will not be [...]

Site layout

More stuff coming up soon… In the meantime, what does this site layout look like to you? The reason that I ask is that on IE7 I see the sidebar on the side (as it is supposed to be). On IE6 I see the sidebar on the bottom of the page. Hardly the end of [...]

From here. H/t T19. Uncertainty only sure thing for Anglican leaders as gay-marriage vote approaches. Just weeks before Anglican leaders decide whether their church should bless gay and lesbian unions, one of the few things that appears to be unifying them is a feeling of uncertainty. The church, which represents about two million Canadians and [...]
